SUMMARY:8th Annual Coast to the Cure NF Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Annual Coast to the Cure NF Bike Ride starts and finishes at Stage Fort Park\, Hough Street\, Gloucester\, MA. To accommodate all level of riders\, the Coast to the Cure Road Course offers four routes of varying lengths: 24\, 40\, 66 and 100 miles. And new this year is our 40-mile route!\n\nAll routes travel along Cape Ann's shores and through Manchester-By-The-Sea\, Beverly\, Hamilton and Ipswich. The terrain includes rolling hills\, long\, sunny flats\, and rural roads winding through the quaint towns of Boston's North Shore.\n\n \n\nThe 100-mile ride takes you further north through Georgetown\, Amesbury and Newburyport. The 66 and 100-mile routes stay together until mile 28\, so you can decide if you're feeling strong enough to ride the 100 miles. The 100-mile route has 4 rest stops\, the 66-mile route has 3 rest stops and the 24-mile route has 1 rest stop. Bicycle support will be provided.\n\n \n\nProceeds from the bike ride benefit neurofibromatosis (NF). NF involves the uncontrolled growth of tumors along the nervous system and is a highly variable and progressive disorder. NF is not rare\, it affects three times as many people as Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy combined. While not all NF patients suffer from the most severe symptoms\, all NF patients and their families live with the uncertainty of not knowing whether they will be seriously affected one day.\n\n \n\nYour support will make it possible to invest in scientific research at the Center for Human Genetic Research at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition\, your generosity will make it possible for NF Northeast to help the many families dealing with neurofibromatosis by providing information and support.
